Did you know:
- The Green Star™ rating tools are the most widely used green building rating systems in Australia. - The Green Building Council of Australia has made several changes to Green Star™ credits with the aim of encouraging environmentally responsible steel production, design and fabrication methods that result in efficient use of steel as a building material. - To qualify for steel points - steel used in construction must come from manufacturers with an environmental management system to ISO 14001 and be a member of the Worldsteel Climate Action Group. - Green Star™ projects may specify higher strength steel (350 grade hot rolled structurals or 450 Grade rectangular and square hollow sections) to earn steel credit points. If this applies to one of your projects please be sure to notify OneSteel Steel & Tube of your grade requirements as early as possible so as to ensure timely supply of compliant materials. - Becoming a member of the ASI Environmental Sustainability Charter or acquiring materials from a member again increases the points earned towards a projects Green Star™ rating.
Next Steps for your business:
- Align with manufacturers holding the relevant credentials including ISO 14001 & Worldsteel Climate membership - OneSteel holds both of these accreditations - Contact the ASI to organise membership to the ASI Environmental Sustainability Charter to ensure that your business is able to contribute Green Star™ points. - If you receive a request for higher grade steel as part of Green Star compliance, notify OneSteel Steel & Tube as soon as possible to ensure stock availability
